  • CYC Walls & Pipe Grids

A cyclorama wall, often called a cyc wall, is a seamless curved wall used in photography, film, and broadcast studios to create the illusion of an endless background. Unlike a standard room with visible corners, the smooth curved transition between the wall and floor eliminates shadows and edges, allowing the space to appear infinite on camera. Cyc walls are typically painted white to act as a blank canvas that can be transformed with lighting. A properly designed studio also includes an overhead lighting grid, which allows lighting fixtures to be suspended and positioned precisely to evenly illuminate the wall and subject. Specialized cyc lights, LED wash lights, and soft lighting instruments are commonly mounted to the grid to create smooth color washes or pure white backgrounds. By carefully controlling the lighting angles and intensity, studios can produce the classic “infinity room” effect, where the background appears to extend forever with no visible boundaries—making cyc walls ideal for commercial shoots, product photography, video production, and broadcast environments.
